Customarily one approaches slim manuals on radiation physics and handbooks of protection with a feeling of somewhat less than a sense of stimulating reading ahead. Messrs. Braestrup and Vikterlöf, however, have managed not only to make their material intelligible to the non-physicist but they write with a style that shows they must be good teachers as well.
The authors cover the standard material on the planning of radiation facilities and shielding design in
basic general language (this volume is a general review of radiation protection requirements, details and
specific applications of which will be explored in depth in succeeding volumes
