Dr. Lowry's book is a no-nonsense practical manual of how and why radiation therapy works. I found his style somewhat choppy, but must grant that the subject is well covered. He discusses organ systems chapter by chapter and includes a short synopsis of clinical and laboratory details of each disease in addition to comments on treatment.
Especially welcome is the good index (often lacking in works of this kind) and end-of-chapter references for further digging in the literature. The book should be helpful to nonradiotherapist physicians who deal with cancer. The presentation is well balanced, with a particularly fine 3-page
