This second edition, like the first, is by far the most complete work on
lupus erythematosus. The eight year period which bridges these editions has yielded much new information.
Advances in virology and immunology, especially cellular immunity, the wide application of investigative
techniques such as immunofluorescence and electronmicroscopy to clinical material, and the fact that the
NZB-NZW strain of mice has been an exciting laboratory model are just some reasons why the second edition of
Lupus Erythematosus should be considerably larger than the first. This is indeed the case.
With 640 pages of text and about 3000 references, this edition
Lupus Erythematosus. A Review of the Current Status of Discoid and Systemic Lupus Erythematosus and Their Variants.. Ann Intern Med. 1975;83:442. doi: https://doi.org/10.7326/0003-4819-83-3-442_1
