This book could be subtitled "All you always wanted to know about using laboratory diagnostic tests but were afraid to ask." I am impressed by it. It logically brings together large volumes of different kinds of information—physical examination, laboratory diagnostic tests, the interrelation of different procedures, and final diagnosis. The text is by a physician (internist), written for physicians who must cope with ordering and using diagnostic tests in particular situations or, conversely, deal with data from batteries of screening tests.
The major section (291 pages) is devoted to interpretation of abnormal diagnostic tests, chemistry, bacteriology, hematology, and X ray.
