Echocardiographers should find this text a valuable addition to the literature, both as a practical manual and as a reference source. Although the emphasis is directed toward pediatric echocardiography, much of the material is equally relevant to adult echocardiography. The first three chapters are devoted to the physics of ultrasound, instrumentation, and the normal echocardiogram. The next 90 pages discuss 33 cardiac lesions that have been evaluated by single-crystal echocardiography. This is perhaps the best section of the book. The authors discuss the echocardiographic features of each lesion, as reported in the literature, comment on their own experience in the
