To the editor: We are writing to you about the review of our book, Differential Diagnosis, which appeared in May (Ann Intern Med 82:726, 1975). We are distressed at a review that contains so many inaccuracies and unpleasant insinuations.
Your reviewer states that our book mentions "little regarding cutaneous, neurologic, urologie, or gynaecologic disorders." We state quite clearly in our introduction that the book concerns itself with the specialty of general medicine, or internal medicine as it is called in the United States. Discussions of gynaecological and skin diseases are therefore out of place as presenting symptoms and are beyond
