To the editor: Anecdotal but medically undocumented reports intermittently appear about good neurologic and mental recovery after prolonged coma due to cerebral anoxic-ischemic injury or head trauma. We are investigating such cases because of their profound humane and medicolegal implications, and we would appreciate hearing from physicians who know directly of such patients. We shall arrange to obtain necessary additional information in appropriate instances.
