Doctor Geeraets first published Ocular Syndromes in 1965 as a pocket-sized book for "quick reference" to the ocular manifestations of 167 syndromes. It was cross-indexed to allow for ready recognition of the syndromes by other synonyms and by their major manifestations whether ocular or systemic. Doctor Geeraets made no pretence of being complete or detailed in his "terse and succinct" description of the syndromes.
Ocular Syndromes, now in its third edition, has grown to full size and lists 436 entries with an improved system of cross-reference to the syndromes that now includes sections on the ocular manifestations, the systemic manifestations,
