To the editor: Dr. Perillie's recent letter in the "Comments and Corrections" section (Ann Intern Med 85:125, 1976) was critical of this journal for publishing an advertisement for our product, Fero-Grad-500 Filmtab® (controlled release iron and 500-mg vitamin C, Abbott Laboratories). He implied that sustained-release iron preparations are ineffective in the treatment of iron deficiency.
We are not qualified to comment on sustained-release iron preparations produced by other companies. As for Fero-Grad-500 Filmtab, however, we believe substantial evidence exists showing that this produce is efficacious in the treatment of iron deficiency.
Fero-Grad-500 Filmtab contains the equivalent of 105 mg of
