There are several small books on the "essentials" of neurology, but Walton's stands out for its clarity, conciseness, and accuracy. Walton covers the field mostly from his personal viewpoint, integrating nicely examination methods for disorders of most problems presenting to general physicians and internists. Where illustrations are well covered in other publications, he borrows them freely with acknowledgment, as in examination for peripheral nerve injuries, EEGs, and radiographic or isotope methods.
As Walshe used to do, Walton begins with a valuable initial section on general principles and signs and symptoms,giving any reader a good perspective on the clinical method. Laboratory
