To the editor: We read with interest the recent article by Benbassat and Schiffmann (1) detailing an introductory course in clinical medicine for medical students. Another article, recently published by Wiener and Nathanson (2), is also of interest to everyone involved in medical education and housestaff training. In it, they describe a program started in 1970 at the Long Island Jewish-Hillside Medical Center whereby history taking and physical examination methods are monitored on an on-going basis.
