The author states in the preface that this book is "an attempt to present an integrated, quantitative analysis of renal function and its role in body fluid homeostasis." It is designed primarily for medical students, physicians interested in renal physiology, and allied health professions. It succeeds in its intent to offer an integrated and detailed treatment of the mechanisms of renal control of homeostasis in both normal and abnormal conditions. However, the author attempts to exceed the boundaries of this purpose and, in doing so, imparts questionable information.
