Dr. Feldman and 19 co-authors have prepared a well-rounded digest of nutritional aspects of atherosclerosis. The various chapters provide portions that are small, but for the most part, filling and informative.
There is a strong chapter on alcoholic cardiomyopathy; and there are interesting chapters dealing with the role of trace elements in atherosclerosis, the relation between vitamins and cardiovascular disease, and plant sterols—subjects that are generally ignored in the current quest to reduce the risk of coronary atherosclerosis by modifying the levels of circulating cholesterol and triglyceride.
