To the editor: After late-night study of the syllabus for the Medical Self-Assessment Program IV, I fantasized that I was off in the future and had received the following letter.

Thank you for your subscription to the tenth edition of The American College of Physician's Medical Knowledge Self-Assessment Program.
You may remember that the controversy as to whether the expansion of MKSAP III's 100 pages to the 300 of MKSAP IV heralded a linear or logarithmic growth came to a climax with the 900 pages of MKSAP V in 1980.
