The Drs. Sandler have taken on a formidable task in the preparation of this thin book. Their objective was the development of a practical text on management of the insulin-deficient diabetic that would meet the needs of the involved layman (patient and parents) and the managing physician. Their approach is to insert at various points through each of the 11 chapters special material headed "For the Physician." It is assumed that the material not so designated is written especially for the layman. Analysis of the book shows that approximately 30 of 92 pages are designated for the physician.
