Two years have elapsed since the appearance of the first volume dealing with the kidney in this series. The purpose of the second volume is the same as that of the first, to provide a set of critical and timely essays summarizing recent research in selected areas of the physiology of the urinary system. This second volume is in no sense a revision of the first; in fact, no topics covered in the earlier volume are repeated.
Books with multiple authorship often suffer from uneven style, and this text is no exception; but on the whole, the essays are readable,
