A short course in pharmacology for the layman. Sections on mechanisms of drug action; common disorders and drugs used to treat them; and an alphabetical compilation of drugs giving their uses, adverse effects, and precautions. Most of the medications discussed are prescription drugs, so the author's goal of "a more rational use of self-treatment" might be difficult to reach.
