W. RUSSELL BRAIN, later Lord Brain, was the author of a textbook of neurology which was the standard throughout the 30s and 40s. In the United States it was largely supplanted by other works from the mid-50s on, but continued its popularity abroad through a number of editions. Lord Brain died in 1966, and Dr. Walton then undertook to complete his revision of the seventh edition. Soon thereafter, Roger Bannister provided an abridged edition for students wishing to join him in a fast lap around the brain stem.
Dr. Walton has now provided us with a completely new revision of
