It is a pleasure to review a good book, which this one is. The style and content give a quickly comprehended view of the subject. Cytologic examination of cells shed into the urine is becoming a valuable aid to diagnosis of urothelial neoplasms. Cytopathology of cells aspirated with the fine (Franzen) needle technique is a related and occasionally complementary study just recently being applied to detection of renal and prostatic neoplasms. Accurate interpretation of these smears is often difficult and requires a highly trained cytopathologist. The field is now in the throes of establishing better criteria for proper diagnosis.
