In few fields has the interaction of medicine, mathematics, and physics been as productive as in the understanding of the cardiovascular system. The strength of this book lies in the in-depth analysis of cardiovascular function by a symposium panel of researchers responsible for much of that productivity.
The introduction summarizes the remarkably swift developments in the field of flow measurement as new technology became available, and provides a useful background for the material presented later in the book. The first five chapters review the available noninvasive and invasive techniques for flow measurements. The chapter on electromagnetic flowmeters reviews the factors
