To the editor: We read with interest the four recent articles (June 1978 Annals of Internal Medicine) on influenza immunizations in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus.
The authors of all four papers seem to be of accord in their conclusion about the apparent safety of influenza vaccine for patients with systemic lupus erythematosus.
We believe, however, that this conclusion is premature and perhaps hazardous because it was based on results obtained after one, at most two, vaccinations. Influenza is a recurring yearly problem, and once the decision is made to immunize, it seems logical to presume that immunization will be
