This widely used survey of current practices in medical and surgical treatment could be appreciably shorter and cheaper if descriptive and diagnostic considerations not strictly pertinent to treatment were excluded along with outlines of surgical methods. Very few of the articles include references to additional sources. The compilation of laboratory values does not specify the pertinent methods. Current Therapy can be a most useful reference book for the physician's shelf, but The Merck Manual is a much better bargain for physicians who do not need surgical and obstetrical information.
