A spiral-bound manual, produced in cooperation with the Mount Zion Hospital and Medical Center in San Francisco, that discusses, especially for cancer patients, dietary progressions; special diets; diet supplements; dietary approaches to common problems such as constipation, heartburn, nausea and vomiting, and dysphagia; hints for "more pleasurable eating"; and cooking with convenience foods. The last chapter comprises 15 pages of recipes for beverages and foods from appetizers to desserts. An index lists calorie and protein content of common foods, including some brand-name and fast food items. A list of recommended further reading is included.
