For the insomniac reader this book will prove highly effective as its hypnagogic fuzzy focus will reduce sleep latency to a few pages. Physicians will little note nor long remember the 12-page oversimplified and underreferenced review of sedative pharmacology. Laypersons will be stupefied by the diagrams of serotonergic, adrenergic, and dopaminergic pathways of the brain. The succinct, 29-page table summarizing clinical studies of sedatives may be of value to those who do not have the previous book from which it is reprinted. Five research papers of the author, and a sixth of another group, constitute the most valuable 120 pages.
