As an operations manual for the bronchoscopist, this is an admirable text. It is well illustrated with excellent diagrams and color photographs. The only other diagnostic procedures discussed are selective bronchographic visualization of the tracheobronchial tree and direct transthoracic lung puncture, which is mentioned briefly. Each of the 10 chapters is followed by a moderately lengthy reference list, but references to recent medical literature are few. Roentgenographic film reproductions are adequate, but unfortunately the publisher has followed the European custom of reproducing a positive image from the X-ray film, not the film itself, so that black and white are reversed
