To the editor: Sweet and associates (1) recently reported on the usefulness of the COMLA combination chemotherapy regimen (cyclophosphamide, vincristine, methotrexate with leucovorin rescue, and cytarabine) as an alternate treatment to doxorubicin-containing programs for advanced histocytic lymphoma. We wish to report on the results with the same program in patients with diffuse histocytic and lymphocytic lymphoma and discuss our findings in light of those of Sweet and associates.
Our program was initiated in 1976 (with Dr. R. Stein's assistance) by the members of the Wisconsin Hematology Study Group. An abstract of earlier results was published in the 1978 Proceedings of
