Chest disease practice has changed remarkably in the 11 years between publication of the third and fourth editions of this text. These changes are well reflected in this new edition. This successful effort by Dr. Hinshaw and his new collaborator, Dr. John Murray, represents an extensive reworking of the previous edition and shows the influence of a classical clinical approach to the patient and the disciplines of physiology, biochemistry, and other sciences that have changed practice in this field.
