Ten years ago Peter Dally published his first and internationally known book on anorexia nervosa, His new book differs in many respects, most prominently in style. The elegant, vivid journalistic style meant to address a wider public loses the scientific reader. There are too many sweeping statements without figures to back them up. Those figures that are given are percentages, without any clear statement as to which population they refer. The authors discuss three populations, with a total of "about" 400, of these 120 were closely studied and 140 seen before 1967 (the previous book) and followed. In
