Young researchers or clinicians specializing in fields related to calcium and bone physiology could be well served by a fundamental textbook of calcium and bone metabolism. Such a book should cover all the major topics and give the reader with limited previous knowledge a basic understanding of the entire area. Several attempts have been made, the most notable of which is the small textbook by Dame Janet Vaughan entitled The Physiology of Bone, published about 6 years ago.
