To the editor: The article by Weil and Schleiter (1) on the national study of internal medicine manpower along with the editorial by Alfred Gellhorn are extremely disturbing for a reason, I am sure, that the authors did not consider. What has being Jewish or non-Jewish to do with career choices and medical education? Is there a Jewish characteristic or personality? I would have hoped that such reasoning ended in the 1940s and find its use and inclusion in any survey repugnant.
