To the editor: We have attempted to duplicate the study of Palmer and associates (1) because of the potential effect in anticoagulant control of change of prothrombin time with storage. Twenty patients receiving warfarin sodium (Coumadin; Endo Laboratories, Inc., Garden City, New York) on long-term anticoagulant therapy were studied at a regular clinic. Duplicate blood samples 4.5 mL each were taken by plastic syringe into 13-by-100-mm glass tubes containing 0.5 mL of buffered citrate solution (Becton Dickinson; Rutherford, New Jersey), and into 12-by-75-mm polypropylene tubes containing 0.5 mL of 3.8% sodium citrate. One of each was centrifuged at 2000 g
