Significant advances in the diagnosis and management of venous thrombosis and its complications have occurred in recent years. The authors of this compact review have been important contributors to the new knowledge and concepts. Not all physicians will agree with some of their conclusions or recommendations but they do not equivocate and they identify and present controversial issues fairly.
The chapters on the management of venous thromboembolism, on heparin, and on objective methods of diagnosis are particularly well done. The chapter on vitamin K antagonists is up to date but contains several spelling errors.
