To the editor: We read with interest the report of successful treatment of patients with advanced extragonadal germ-cell tumors with combination chemotherapy by Hainsworth and associates (1). We wish to report a patient with massive mediastinal seminoma apparently cured 21Z2 years after receiving only two courses of combination chemotherapy.
A 26-year-old man presented with weight loss of about 4 kg, fever, shortness of breath of 2 months duration, and recent hoarseness of voice. At physical examination the patient had a temperature of 38.6 °C, bilateral small anterior cervical and axillary lymph nodes, pericardial rub, and liver edge 4 cm below
