To the editor: The editorial by Frame (1) contained several helpful guidelines for organizing teaching rounds for internal medicine residents.
During the past 5 years, I have served as attending physician for a rural community outreach program for senior residents from an urban teaching hospital. I have tried to improve the quality of teaching rounds, but have found these rounds to be time-consuming.
After reading the editorial, I drew up new guidelines for teaching rounds that I gave to the residents and have followed for the past several months. We have saved enough time to allow for more bedside teaching
