The publisher bills it as Volume III of the International Textbook of Medicine, Volume I being Pathophysiology: The Biological Principles of Disease, edited by Lloyd H. Smith, Jr., and Samuel O. Thier; and Volume II being Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, edited by Abraham I. Brunde. Loyal Cecil fans need not fear: The appearance of the trio does not mean that the Textbook of Medicine has been pruned. For example, infectious diseases continue to be comprehensively covered.
