To the editor: Levy and associates (1) described their initial experience with digital subtraction angiography for the localization of parathyroid adenomas in seven patients who had not previously had neck surgery. Angiographic technique was used to place a catheter in the superior vena cava, and a mechanical pump was used to inject a bolus of contrast material. Nonetheless, the authors refer to their technique as simple and noninvasive. The tumors measured 2.1 cm in average, twice the average size of the usual parathyroid adenoma (2), yet the authors imply that they detected small parathyroid adenomas.
