Emergency medicine encompasses virtually all fields of medical care. It is not surprising that potentially life-saving procedures belonging to many specialties would be considered an integral part of the repertoire of an emergency physician. The result has been many "how to do it" books for emergency department physicians. This book from the Department of Medicine and Emergency Medicine Center, University of California, Los Angeles, belongs to this genre. A prospective purchaser should compare it closely with some of its competitors: Rosen and Sternbach's Atlas of Emergency Medicine (Williams & Wilkins, 1979); Cosgriff's An Atlas of Diagnostic and Therapeutic Procedures for
Procedures and Techniques in Emergency Medicine.. Ann Intern Med. 1983;99:138. doi: https://doi.org/10.7326/0003-4819-99-1-138_1
