This multiauthored nephrology text deals with renal physiology, endocrinology, metabolism, pathophysiology, immunopathology, and considerations of individual diseases. Substantial coverage is given to uremia, dialysis, and transplantation. A final section discusses clinical and laboratory procedures as well as imaging techniques.
Although the chapters on physiology and pathophysiology provide convenient synopses, they probe the subject at differing depths and contain only a few selected readings as references, many of which are quite old. The treatment of clinical entities is adequate, but photomicrographs are sparse in some sections, as in that dealing with poststreptococcal glomerulonephritis.
