Usually a clue that a book panders to public fear, this sensational title refers to a scientist's sober response to the flood of misinformation that has nearly killed the American nuclear power industry. In clear, straightforward style, Cohen explains the technical issues and confronts with forceful logic all the usual objections to nuclear power, from plutonium theft to waste disposal. He draws on a formidable bibliography of his own research, published in peer-reviewed journals, as well as an extensive literature review. (Only a small group of scientists is quoted by the antinuclear movement.)
