To the editor: The editorial by Dr. Kunin in the December issue (1) emphasizes that antibiotic resistance today is an international problem: "The underdeveloped nations of the world have become an important market for the sale of obsolete antibiotic combinations as well as the newest agents not yet licensed in this country. "
We are all too familiar with this problem in our community, situated on the border with Mexico. In addition to antibiotics, however, our experience has shown the problem to extend to medications in general. Many drugs that can only be purchased in this country by prescription can
