To the editor: The letter by Weiler (1) on morphine administration cites a reference that states that a sustained-release form of morphine sulphate would be invaluable (2). It may interest your readers to know that a sustained-release form of morphine sulphate tablets, in strengths of 10 mg, 30 mg, 60 mg and 100 mg, has been available in the United Kingdom for some time and is available in some other European countries, although not currently in the United States.
