To the editor: Beck and associates (1) point out that the data analyzed in our recent letter (2) do not pertain solely to retired cotton workers but instead to all cotton workers for whom the 6-year follow-up observation was done. A reexamination of the data in Table 4 of the original article (3) shows that it included 379 follow-up cases among whom there were 101 active workers (27%) and 278 retirees (73%). Tables 6.10 to 6.13 in their report (4) deal with a total of 367 cases and thus include both retirees and active workers. However, we do not agree
