Biofeedback burst into prominence in the 1970s, because of the lure of combining exact measurement of somatic processes with psychophysiologic therapies: western technology meets eastern medicine. Because of the overly enthusiastic forecasts of biofeedback's immediate transformation of medical practice, the importance of its concepts has languished. Now, a book edited by a pioneer in the field who is a physician with considerable stature is available to provide a more balanced view.
The authors were selected for their expertise in various areas, and so the book's content represents some of the best thinking in the field today. It provides a good
