In the last 10 years, many books have appeared on hemostasis. This new book edited by Drs. Ratnoff and Forbes, from opposite sides of the Atlantic, contains chapters by distinguished investigators from all continents. The mix of basic pathophysiology and practical clinical medicine is good and the chapters are up to date, well balanced, and, for the most part, readable. Several contributions are outstanding. The history of the evolution of knowledge of hemostasis is informative.
