This multiauthored book is a follow-up to lectures given by experts at an international symposium held in 16-19 June 1982 in Marseille. Although the book is said not to represent the proceedings of the symposium it reads like proceedings and has the strengths and weaknesses of an international symposium. Electrophysiologic studies have greatly advanced our knowledge and understanding of cardiac arrhythmias. Newer antiarrhythmic agents, antitachycardia pacemakers, automatic implantable defibrillators, and antiarrhythmic surgery guided by mapping studies have greatly facilitated the management of patients with refractory and complex arrhythmias.
