Only a few medical texts become classics, but Conn's Current Therapy, in its 37th edition and now edited by Robert Rakel, certainly is one. The book attempts "to provide concise yet detailed information for the busy practicing physician on treatment of conditions most frequently encountered in practice," and on those less common ones "for which specific treatment is available." This edition has no major changes from previous editions, but does cover several new topics including the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome and Alzheimer's disease. Almost 300 topics are covered in unnumbered independent chapters, each usually authored by one or two experts. Coverage
