The conclusions of the GPEP Panel concerning faculty involvement in medical education (1) revolve largely around acknowledging the primacy in the mission of the medical school of the general education of medical students, and around organization, through communication among deans and faculty members, of an educational program with defined goals, content, and budget, with continuing oversight by the faculty.
