Internist + purports to allow the physician to perform differential diagnosis for any combination of 537 symptoms, signs, and laboratory findings (disease attributes) to establish the relative likelihood of 337 disease states. The user can modify the database to reflect his or her specific needs (by adding or deleting diseases and attributes, and modifying the disease and attribute associations). Up to 1200 attributes and 1200 diseases can be handled. Unfortunately, the unsophisticated means by which the program arrives at a likelihood of diagnosis is far inferior to the reasoning processes used by even novice diagnosticians.
