To the editor: Circulating heparin-like anticoagulants have been reported in patients with systemic mastocytosis (1), in one patient with acute monoblastic leukemia (2), in patients with plasma cell leukemia (3), and in one with esophageal carcinoma (4). We report the presence of similar circulating factors found in a patient with eczema, an association that has not yet been described.
A 17-year-old woman with a family history of atopic disease was admitted in our department for treatment of eczematous lesions at the elbow and wrists and under the ears. Recently, she had developed evidence of erythematous and vesicular dermatitis after local
