Once again Yen and Jaffe are to be congratulated on their excellent book. The area of reproductive endocrinology was in its infancy when the first edition was published in 1978. Much as Edwards and Steptoe's historical event of that same year was only the beginning of a new study, so the field of reproductive endocrinology as a whole has exploded with ideas and areas of research. Condensing this wealth of information into a manageable text is reason enough for the increased number of pages. New chapters have been added, none deleted, and some redefined.
